Join us during tonight’s stream for local multiplayer madness as we play Crawl from Powerhoof.
Crawl is an action-RPG with innovative local multiplayer features. One player is a human adventurer, and the others control the bad guys. When the human dies, the player who scored the kill takes over. This multiplayer competition adds a whole new dynamic to the dungeon crawling experience.
Our human hero starts with a dagger, but can eventually purchase a variety of weapons and equipment to fend off monsters. Meanwhile, the non-human players control ghosts that can inhabit traps and summon monsters with which to defeat the hero. This is all accomplished by a simple two-button control scheme that makes jumping between human and ghost forms a snap.
The goal in this competitive adventure is to defeat an Eldritch boss monster waiting at the end of the dungeon. Whichever player defeats the boss as a human wins the game. Meanwhile, everyone else controls parts of the boss in a bid to kill the hero and get their own shot at victory.
Crawl is a unique experience unlike any other. Although it can be played in single-player against bots, local multiplayer is the real focus and best way to enjoy the game. Check out our full review for more details.
You can get Crawl for $14.99 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Steam.

How to watch Beam live streams
We’re now streaming on Beam, Microsoft’s interactive live streaming platform. It provides some welcome improvements over Twitch, such as a cleaner website layout, built-in stream interactivity, and extremely low latency.
You can follow our channel at Beam.pro/WindowsCentral. From there, you’ll be able to watch the stream and participate in chat directly from any web browser, including the Windows Phone browsers.
To receive email notifications when our Beam streams go live:
- First, follow our channel.
- Now select your profile from the top-right corner of the screen.
- Pick the Account option near the bottom of the menu.
- Go to the Notifications tab.
- Make sure Send me important email updates on the Beam platform is enabled. This option is labeled deceptively, but it’s required for all forms of email notifications.
- Click or tap the Email box next to our channel name until a check appears. That’s it!
- We highly recommend that you set a recurring alarm on your phone. Our weekend stream always starts at the same time (9pm Eastern/6pm Pacific), so the phone reminder can be very helpful.
Beam does not offer a Windows Phone app yet, so watching from the browser is the only option on Microsoft’s mobile platform. But Beam does offer apps on Xbox One, Android, and iOS.
Want to know what’s next for Windows Central’s weekend Beam programming? We stream a different game every Saturday (and sometimes Sunday). The stream always starts at the same time: 9pm Eastern (8pm Central, 6pm Pacific, 1am GMT). Over the next few weeks, we’ll be streaming the following (schedule not finalized):
- May 13: Overcooked from Team17. Win an Xbox, PlayStation 4, or Steam copy of this delightful local multiplayer cooking game.
- May 20: Lost Grimoires from Artifex Mundi. Win an Xbox or Steam copy of this hidden object puzzle adventure game.
- May 27: Castle Crashers Remastered from The Behemoth. Win an Xbox or Steam copy of this unequaled beat ’em up action-RPG.
- June 3: Four Sided Fantasy from Serenity Forge. Win an Xbox or Steam copy of this clever puzzle platformer.
We hope you’ll tune in as often as you can! Set a recurring alarm on your phone so you’ll always know when it’s time for the stream to start.
