Most anticipated Xbox One games launching this week

This week we’re only seeing two new “AAA” releases, but there are still a few surprises here and there. The legendary Monster Hunter franchise returns with Monster Hunter: World, and players also get to fight their way through hordes of enemies in Dragon Ball FighterZ. With that in mind, here are all the biggest games launching this week, between January 22 to January 26.

Monster Hunter: World tasks you with simply battling gigantic monsters in epic locales. As a hunter, you’ll take on quests to kill increasingly difficult beasts in their exotic habitats. Gamers who take down these monsters will receive numerous materials that can be used to create stronger weapons and armor in order to hunt down even more dangerous monsters. The game also features an expansive campaign which revolves around an event known as the Elder Crossing of dragons.

Monster Hunter: World launches on January 26 with Xbox One X enhancements, starting at $59.99.

Dragon Ball FighterZ

Dragon Ball FighterZ is a fighting game which surprisingly has a quirky story. This next part might not make sense to those who don’t follow the show. Goku and his friends must fight a new battle against a revived Android 16 and his army. There are a few chapters in there and events take place from the perspective of different characters. How the adventure unfolds and if you’re ultimately successful is up to just how good you are at taking down your foes.

Assassin’s Creed Origins: The Hidden Ones

The Hidden Ones is Assassin’s Creed Origins’ first story expansion which focuses on the Roman occupation. Bayek and his Assassins clash with the force in an all-new region of the game called Sinai. The base experience deals with topics like preserving the Ancient Egyptian way of life in a changing world, so expect The Hidden Ones to touch upon similar themes.

OK K.O.! Let’s Be Heroes is based on the hit Cartoon Network show of the same name. The title stars pint-sized hero K.O. as he punches, slide-kicks, combos, and power-moves his way through hordes of evil Boxmore robots on an epic quest to save Lakewood Plaza Turbo from the maniacal Lord Boxman. In this story-driven adventure game, players level up their character to unlock new fight moves and collect cards to call other characters into battles.

Celeste

Celeste is a pixelated platformer focused on the trails and tribulations of climbing a mountain. The game features hundreds of different levels that will test players’ skills. The game takes inspiration from many other experiences in the genre so expect some tributes. Celeste is a collaboration between the creators of Skytorn and TowerFall so hopefully it’ll be a polished experience due to its heritage.

Celeste launches on January 26.
