The Huawei P10 isn’t here yet, but the company is already thinking ahead to 2018’s flagship
The Huawei P10 stole many of the plaudits from MWC 2017, and although the handset isn’t available to buy yet, the Chinese company is already turning its attentions to the Huawei P11.
It’s too early to say what kind of features or price the Huawei P11 will have (who knows what position the pound will be by then?), but one thing that’s already beginning to take shape is the release date. Huawei don’t usually make their big reveal at MWC, favouring their own events later in the spring, but it appears that the Chinese company has developed a taste for doing so at this year’s event.
Speaking to Android Central, Bruce Lee – Huawei’s vice president of handsets product line – said explained that the company always tried to hit the March/April release date, but that it hadn’t been possible with the P8 or P9. The spring release model is one they’re looking to go forward with though. “In the future, we will probably launch the devices at Mobile World Congress,” he explained via an interpreter.
Being amongst the first out of the blocks in the new year’s smartphone race would certainly be advantageous as Huawei looks to establish itself amongst the Samsungs and Apples of the world in the west. While this remains an ambition rather than a firm release date, we can safely say that the company already has one eye on the P11, even before the P10 reaches our desks.
