How to add and remove watch faces on your Apple Watch

You can customize your watch faces as much as you like, but what if you want them customized in more than one way?

You can set up the Modular watch face on your Apple Watch, for example, to have a simple, white palette and all the complications you need to stay on top of all your information at work. But you could also set it up with a bright palette and everything you need for when you go for a run. Customizing it from scratch each time would be a waste of time. Luckily, Apple lets you add multiple versions of a clock face and customize each one not only to your liking but for all the different ways you like!

Note: You can only add extra versions of clock faces that have customization options, which means Solar and Astronomy can’t currently have multiple versions.

How to add additional versions of Apple Watch faces via Apple Watch

You can have 12 differently colored versions of the Numerical watch face or four different styles of the Simple watch face or all of the above. The sky is the limit for your personal taste.

  1. Press firmly on the watch face to enter switching mode.
  2. Swipe all the way to the left and tap + New button.

  3. Turn the Digital Crown to select the clock face you want to add.
  4. Tap the watch face to confirm.
  5. Customize the new watch face version.

You can add as many versions of a watch face as you like, so you can keep different colors handy, and different complication setups.

How to add additional versions of Apple Watch faces via your iPhone

You can add as many versions of as many watch faces (except solar and Astronomy) as you’d like from your iPhone.

  1. Launch the Watch app on your iPhone.
  2. Tap the Face Gallery tab.

  3. Tap a watch face to select it. They are organized by type.
  4. Customize the complications and style and color of the watch face.
  5. Tap Add.

The new watch face will automatically appear as the current display on your Apple Watch.

How to delete Apple Watch faces via your Apple Watch

It doesn’t take long before you start to get overwhelmed with all of your different watch faces. If you’re ready to pare down, you can remove them right on your Apple Watch.

  1. Press firmly on the watch face to enter switching mode.
  2. Swipe to the watch face you want to delete.
  3. Swipe up on the watch face to reveal the trash button.
  4. Tap the trash button to confirm.

If you delete a watch face and later regret it, you can add it back by following the steps above. (Including Solar and Astronomy.)

How to delete Apple Watch faces via your iPhone

It might be convenient to remove watch faces right on your Apple Watch, but it is much easier to do so on your iPhone.

  1. Launch the Watch app on your iPhone.
  2. Tap the My Watch tab.
  3. Tap Edit across from My Faces.

  4. Tap the red remove button (-) on the left side of a watch face.
  5. Tap Remove on the right side of the watch face.

The watch face will automatically be removed from your Apple Watch.
